Folks,
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I wanted to share a concept I recently learned about that is gaining momentum in NC. It is the TREE TRUNK VALUES Poster (see www.treetrunkvalues.org). The goal of the poster is to re-introduce into public classrooms a set of core values that stimulates discussion and provides a foundation and moral compass for kids to live by their entire lives.
The poster is in 500+ classrooms in Iredell County from Kindergarten through 12th grade. TTV supporters worked with school board member Mike Kubiniec (michael_kubiniec@iss.k12.nc.us), who after vetting and running it by other school board members, introduced me to the Superintendent, Dr Jeffrey James (jeff_james@iss.k12.nc.us). They were kind enough to allow a presentation to the entire schoolboard, as well as be a reference. The presentation is on the website for your viewing (7 mins). They currently have another four county boards interested in the poster for their school, with interest growing day by day.
While it seems like a little thing, having students see this poster everyday will make an impact. We hope that you will give this program serious consideration for your school district. TTV supporters will gladly meet with any of you to further explain the many benefits of this program.
